A.D.S. is an attractive, patented, household version of the long-proven industrial
retractable door sweep. It replaces stiff, dragging weather stripping that scars
floors and wears down rugs. A.D.S. retracts completely when the door is opened so it
doesn't pull in dirt, moisture and other debris. A decorative, molding-like cover
plate protects and hides the mechanism and mounting screws. The unit is an easy 10
to 15 minute installation on any door, wood, fiberglass or metal, up to 36"
wide. The soft EPDM rubber blade seals even irregular surfaces with gaps up to
3/4". A.D.S. is 2 1/8' high x 7/16" wide. A.D.S. can mount on the
interior or exterior, left or right hinge sides.
The A.D.S. is a passive device that, when properly mounted,
functions simply by opening and closing the door. When the door is closed, the
contact wheel fully engages the stainless steel strike plate which forces the entire
length of the A.D.S. (including the fixed rubber gasket) to lower to the door sill.
Upon opening the door, the geometry of the piece, with the aid of two stainless steel coil
springs, causes the weather stripping to retract up into the housing. Do-it-yourself
installation is simple with common household tools. Easy-to-follow instructions with
marked ruler and trimming templates are included.
